Great replacement to Xfinity modem
I loath Comcast/Xfinity, I hate having only one option for 1G+ internet besides ATT which is another horrible company. Multiple times a year we have some issue with Xfinity and my internet speed falls below 10mbs. The modem router combo is weak and I have mesh system throughout my house to provide internet throughout.I purchased Net Gear router and TP-link WiFi router to beef things up. I was scared about installation and the dreaded Xfinity customer service I would need to deal with. This router was easy, all online, no call to X and no issues.Speed is over a gig and no one complaining about buffering or glitches. Love it!

Works with xfinity/comcast
Installation was easy. At first it was resetting 3-4 times a day like my previous surfboard modem. I started reporting the outages each time through the xfinity automated app. Don’t waste your time talking to xfinity, it’s a waste of time. After I saw a tech do something at a junction box down the street, my connection has stayed stable. We have multiple devices using the Internet all day long including a smart tv going 8 hours a day plus macs, ipads, pc’s , nest thermostat, home security cameras, and cell phones using wifi calling through our older netgear Nighthawk router which is connected to this cable modem. No speed issues although sometimes the xfinity app shows our home offline when Internet is working fine.

Speedy!
This is an exceptional cable modem and replaced our cox hardware. Installation is simple and straight forward. This device out performs stock hardware in every way. The signal quality is very stable, speeds are above normal and stable. This device will also save you from paying those pesky rental fees for sub par hardware. It pays for itself over time and offers you a better overall experience with your network.Win, win, win.

Worked great! Return not so great
Item worked great. I decided to go with Xfinity’s instead. Return of this is a terrible deal. I paid $74.55 and only got $37.47 back. They charge a $37.28 restocking fee and you pay for shipping. Just be sure to read the return policy of any seller to avoid any surprises!

Better than the COX modem
This is a lot better than using the COX modem. Plus this product has a built in app that allows you to run a speed test from the modem, which will be a lot more accurate than running from desktop or laptop

Never buying Netgear equipment again
I’m a technical dude, working in video games and needed a fast reliable router that could cope with a demanding household during COVID. I’m streaming meetings all day, working with cloud services, have two teenage gamers in the house, plus wife is also working. I upgraded the whole network at the same time. I did a lot of research and ended up settling on Netgear Nighthawk equipment throughout.Big mistake, less than 6 months later I’m replacing all of it.At the same time I bought:Netgear CM1100 modemNetgear XR500 routerNetgear EX7000 extenderNetgear S8000 switchFirst issue was the modem. I have a gigabit line and initially we were able to get ~650mbps down. But after a few weeks the modem started requiring constant restarts. Eventually download speeds dropped to 0-30mbps. Resets didn’t help. I replaced the unit with a Motorola MB8600, has been rock solid ever since. The EX7000 has been useless as an extender since the day I first set it up. It constantly loses backhaul connection to the router, leaving all connected clients offline. I’ve tried it in several parts of the house, even in the same room with line of sight of the XR500. A restart would and it’d work for 24 hours, at best. In the end I wired the backhaul and ran it as an access point. The performance was poor, so eventually I just unplugged it.The XR500 hasn’t ever been a great performer, wireless speeds top about a 300mbps down and 30mbps up. At best. Even wire clients would rarely get over 500. It also needs to be restarted weekly. There are large parts of the house the signal can’t penetrate. And, as we’re getting ready of school to start, in need some parental controls. The Nighthawks don’t have any. Like at all.So I just about two weeks ago installed a Gryphon router. Immediate improvement. It’s faster, more reliable and has a way better admin setup. Wired I’m now getting 930mbps down, latency around 10ms and a health 40mbps up. Wireless clients around 650mbps. So far it’s been rock solid and has a way, way, way better admin interface. It’s also caught and blocked several bits of malware entering my network. The S8000 switch is fine, but expensive. I’ll keep it, but a cheaper box would have been just as good.So I’m done with Netgear. Hundreds of dollars wasted. Work was hard. I’m sending all of this junk to the charity shop. Never buying from Netgear again.

Boom! 100 Mbps increase
We got an automatic upgrade from Spectrum to 500 Mbps, and things were going well. In the past month, our modem was dropping out for a couple of minutes at a time. After doing a little research, I realized that it was 7 years old, and it was now unsupported by Spectrum. I ordered the CM1100, and it arrived in 2 days. After a quick call to Spectrum to finish the activation, the modem was up and running. We went from 460 Mbps to 570 Mbps with the new modem; the ping rate dropped a few ms, which will make my son an even better gamer (/joke) and overall provide us with a stable platform for the next few years. It is a very economical purchase compared to leasing from the cable company. And it should future-proof us for the next few years. It’s a win-win.
