98″ is just too heavy to manage warranty issues
Alas, i got one of the many panels that burn out the driver boards and spent 2 weeks so far in warranty slog… background: Worked for one week and was quite impressive picture and sound for a TV (still really should have home theater speakers though). Then the backlight failed. It is very heavy, only take the risk if it is an ‘easy’ first floor location, else movers are likely needed to safely move it.Service action at the house recovered the backlight for about 10 minutes, then failed again. Now waiting on the next level of support to respond.Trying to return it now. Very polite and easy to reach TCL front line agents, but no direct access to the decision makers. Lots of requests for pictures and videos and then invoice. Stalling tactic or poor process? Getting a lot of run around and my return timeline is running out. Amazon site indicate I need the original box, but installer took the box and they don’t have it anymore due to its size. TCL says, ” There is no need to return the unit to our facility, so not having the original box will not be an issue.”, but have not provided a path to initiate the refund. Not sure if it just means it is my problem to properly dispose of the e-waste.Net net – TCL quality isn’t ready for primetime and if given the size and weight – it is just much more worth it go the projector route for a home theater dark room, and stay at 85″ or below for regular rooms..

Two Swings and Two Misses. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
We purchased this TV (and returned it) TWICE because it was broken BOTH times. We paid an installer to install it. TWICE. BOTH TVs were broken. The first TV arrived physically damaged (the screen was split from the back), which we discovered when the installer opened the box to install it. The second TV appeared to be in perfect condition upon delivery. We paid the installer $557 to install it only to discover (AFTER it was installed) that the backlight would not illuminate (which is apparently the equivalent to the “blue screen of death” on a computer). After exhausting all troubleshooting with TCL directly to no avail, we returned the TV. AGAIN. This time we’re also out the $557 for the mounting bracket and installation service charge. I could not be more frustrated and dissatisfied.

    Broken, unusable.
Recieved with the panel completely broken and no signs of external damage. TCL Support said it’s an Amazon problem. Amazon won’t replace it. Beware of the lack of support from TCL. I’m sure its a good tv if you get one that works.

    Nope…
Arrived…. no power plug, no remote, no manual, no nuttin’. Easily saw this was a return unit. No way am I going to start out solving Amazon/TCLs problems. TCL has horrendous customer service, for starters. Not even sure if purchasing an extended warranty would overcome poor cust serv. Returned.

    Didn’t work
I revieved this item and after going through all the trouble of unpacking and setting up I turn it on and it doesn’t work after a little bit of research I realized it had a software or OS glitch so it was stuck on a boot up screen with only restart and developer options that didn’t do anything. After calling they confirmed it and told me a replacement and pickup would take 3 weeks so after going through the hassle of packing everything up I decided to just return it and not get a replacement

    Overrated
Tv is not all that. My Sony that’s 5 years old is better than this.
