Not just for cameras
My camera has a flash for photos, but videos come out grainy with improper lighting. This light illuminates well and evenly making a big quality difference. The temperature adjustment goes from warm to fluorescent quality, which is appropriate to what I’m using this camera for. In addition to video (warm light), I use this light for home improvement uses (fluorescent). When mounted on a small tripod it has provided good illumination for installing appliances like over stove microwaves, dishwashers and dryers. I also used it for installation of a car stereo in an older car. The battery charges decently fast and is rated for four hours. I have never used it more than two hours in a row on high, and I still have a couple of bars of power left. I’ve had this for about 2 years now and use it a couple of hours a month.

For a 20 dollar light you really can’t complain!! I used an old canon 1ds MKii 24-70 F4 for all photos except for the last. ISO 800 on a Sony A7Riii with a Sony 24-105. Most people have new cameras with great high ISO etc… I usually go to reptile expos and take ok photos. I did not want to flash wildlife at an expo and leave them looking blank. This light is perfect. Sits nice on a camera, just remove lens hood and you’re ready to go. I ordered a second light. For a small $20 you will get your $20 worth of light. at ISO 100 light is not strong enough. You will need to move your ISO upwards 800 plus, or slow down your F stop and open up your aperture. My lenses only go to F4. Hope this helps. I did not use a phone I used an actual cameras with pro grade level zoom lenses.

Good fill light for filming in the woods!
I make hiking videos, and sometimes the sun casts a shadow from my ball cap that obscures my face. Or sometimes I’m hiking through densely canopied forests. Or during the harsh shadows of late afternoon. This fill light is a great way to keep myself from disappearing in total shadow! It’s not RGB, but I’m not looking for that: it does have a range of “white” color temperatures (warm to daylight, I’d say, though I’m no color scientist guy). Temp is controlled with one dial; intensity and power by another. I also like the additional cold shoe mounts, although depending on your set up, one or more may be unusable (e.g., the mic cover from the GoPro Media Mod interferes with one in my situation).Room for improvement: I’d like it if there were positive clicks (detents) or at least discrete markers on both dials: if you get things set the way you like, you’ll have to hope you never bump them. I’m going to use a silver Sharpie and make my own ticks for the temps and intensities I most frequently use. Another thing (and I had this issue with a prior Ulanzi product): where the cold shoe and the light mate, there’s unnecessary wiggling that can (and has) shown up in the audio recording as I’m hiking, a rhythmic bump-bump-bump with every step. I did for this what I did for the other light: hit the joint with CA glue. No more rattle.

Bought this a little over a month ago, used a few times. Dial does not turn it on anymore.I’ve reached out to service email two times in past week, no response. I’d say pass on it if it happens to you.Edit: They finally replied to my email and sent me a new one free of charge. Back to 5* for now
